Electroplating involves immersing the desired parts into a solution that contains the metal compound to be deposited. By passing an electric current through the plating solution, the metal is precipitated and coats the parts. Common examples of electroplating include zinc, copper, nickel, chromium, and copper-nickel alloy plating. Sometimes additional processes like blackening or phosphating are also incorporated.

 

Hot-dip galvanizing is a process that involves immersing carbon steel components into a bath of molten zinc, usually at a temperature of around 510°C. This results in the formation of an iron-zinc alloy on the surface of the steel, which gradually transforms into passivated zinc on the outer layer of the product. A similar technique to hot-dip galvanizing is hot dip aluminizing, which follows a comparable procedure.

 

Mechanical plating is a process where coated metal particles are utilized to strike the surface of the object. The coating fuses to the surface of the product via cold welding, resulting in a durable and long-lasting finish.
